Sages & Scientists: The Merging of a New Future annual symposium explores a series of fantastic emerging facts – the only genuine currency of science – and a contemporary synthesis where science and soul coexist comfortably. Without such a merging, our world cannot survive. Some of the most urgent questions facing our future evolution will be addressed.

Everything is examined from the perspectives of both sages and scientists, with a view to finding common ground.

These are Urgent Times for Such a Meeting of the Minds.

For centuries in the West, science has rejected the idea of transcendent realities.

The fantastic success of modern science on the technological front has enabled human beings to shape raw materials (metals, ceramics, polymers, etc.) and achieve what would have been magic in earlier ages: machines that fly, computers to hold almost infinite data, and pills that make pain disappear. Technology has been an unstoppable juggernaut rolling over human consciousness, delivering unimaginable power and comfort.

But over the last few decades another voice has made itself heard, warning us that all is not well. The worldwide financial meltdown is matched by a cultural pandemic of confusion and a desperate search for deeper values.

A groundswell of knowledge and insight has been building. Its shared message is this:

There is something else, a dimension of reality beyond the material world.
Beyond us but in our midst.

This isn’t a rebirth of mysticism, but a modern way to merge ancient insights with modern scientific theory.

Our panel of world-class scientists and sages are sympathetic with the search for a single reality that embraces science and wisdom.

The Merging of a New Future will explore a series of fantastic emerging facts – the only genuine currency of science – and a contemporary synthesis where science and soul coexis comfortably. Without such a merging, our world cannot survive.

Some of the most urgent questions facing our future evolution will be addressed. Recent advances in science are posing new questions for spirituality:

(e)merging

Are we in the midst of a major paradigm shift in science?
Is the universe becoming self-aware in the human nervous system?
Is there an ultimate reality?
How does our understanding of consciousness as pure potentiality enhance our capacity for intuition, creativity, conscious choice making, healing, and the awakening of dormant potentials such as non-local communication and non-local sensory experience?
How does our understanding of consciousness also enhance our capacity for total well being (physical, emotional, spiritual, social, community, financial and ecological)?
Does consciousness conceive, govern, construct and become the physical universe?
Is the next stage of human development conscious evolution?
Do we have the ability to influence the future evolution of the cosmos?

Science is God Explaining God to God Through the Human Nervous System

an Essay by Deepak Chopra

The mathematical formulations and abstract notions and concepts that emanate from our brains as a result of electromagnetic storms in synaptic networks are as much an expression of nature as the beautiful and myriad colors on the feathers of a peacock or the wings of a butterfly. They are as much a pattern of movement of the universe as the rotation of stars or the eddies of a whirlpool or the swirling of a tornado or the electromagnetic storms that create thunder and lightning.

These patterns manifest through neural tissues as the questions: “Who are we?” “Is there an omnipotent creator?” “What is the meaning of death?” “Does the soul take quantum leaps of creativity as it evolves through eons of time?” Because the nervous system is hardwired to ask these questions, it must also be hardwired to seek and discover the answers.

The ancient wisdom tradition of Vedanta states that a single, undifferentiated reality expresses itself as knower and known, as observer and observed, as seer and scenery. Einstein is said to have stated, “I want to know how God thinks, everything else is a detail.”

As we look through the window of science into the deeper reality, we discover that we are all members of the same Being. In that discovery, we cannot help but experience great awe, profound humility, and deep reverence for the mystery of existence and this makes the scientific endeavor worthwhile.
